Suzanne Collier is fully qualified in Career Guidance and Development (Level 6) and has been giving careers advice and guidance to those walking any career path, as well as within her specialist field of book publishing, since 1999.

She is a Registered Career Development Practitioner who operates to the Career Development Institute’s (CDI) code of ethics, is fully insured and DBS checked. When talking to clients, she offers the same confidentiality that one might come to expect from a Doctor.

Suzanne has been shortlisted by Career Development Institute twice for Career Coach of the Year (2023, 2022) and has won the Research award (2022) for her work on salaries in the book publishing industry.

The book publishing industry has also recognised Suzanne’s dedication to careers. In 2011 she won the Pandora Award from Women in Publishing for a significant and sustained contribution to the publishing industry. She has been shortlisted by the Independent Publishers Guild for Services to Publishing four times, (2022, 2021,2020, 2018).

In the book publishing industry, Suzanne has acted as a coach and confidante to authors, publishers, literary agents and freelancers, where she is often able to help people overcome blocks and hurdles and boost their income.

As one client said:
‘Suzanne doesn’t only give you a Plan B but can help you with a plan C to Z too’.

Having an understanding of every area of book publishing helps too. Suzanne has spent over 40 years working in book publishing and has at once time worked in every department, and in both Trade, Children’s and Academic publishing.

Back in 1999, Suzanne founded bookcareers.com and for many years successfully ran it alongside holding down a full-time publishing role, building it from a starting place for those seeking careers advice about publishing, to an independent careers service with a brand name which is recognised throughout the industry.

Suzanne continues to coach and train others, undertake public speaking engagements, and regularly writes articles on both careers and publishing issues which have been published in the Trade and National Press. Suzanne is currently a category judge for the Business Book Awards as well as publish books under the bookcareers brand.

Outside of work she is passionate about cycling, Dagenham & Redbridge FC, health related fitness (she is fully qualified aerobics teacher) and loves flowers.

Suzanne has suffered with a chronic migraine condition since 2006 and uses this to help promote the work of The Migraine Trust. Other charities which she actively supports are The Book Trade Charity (BTBS) and the Encephalitis Society.
